Aquatic Therapy in Irvine

Aquatic Therapy in Irvine

Welcome to Southern California Aquatic and Physical Therapy!

So Cal Aquatic Therapy has been serving Irvine and all of Orange County with professional traditional and aquatic physical therapy since 1995.

Our Huntington Beach on-site commercial pool is heated to 92 degrees, the optimal temperature for recovery. And our saltwater sanitizing system is less irritating to your skin, and promotes healing! Our pool also features dual handrails for assisted entry, therapeutic jets for soft tissue massage, and aquatic therapy equipment for resistance training.

Benefits of Aquatic Therapy in Irvine

Not sure if aquatic therapy is right for you?

Here are just some of the proven benefits of this type of therapy:

  • Improves circulation, promoting healing to the affected areas
  • Reduces swelling and edema
  • The warm water soothes and relaxes muscles
  • Better range of motion
  • Buoyancy and weightlessness allow you to perform strengthening exercises without straining your joints
  • Better flexibility

Our clients typically come to us from one of three scenarios:

1. Their bodies are not yet able to meet the demands of traditional (land) physical therapy.

In this case, aquatic therapy can serve as a jumping off point, a low impact yet highly effective method of increasing strength and healing so the client can eventually “graduate” to traditional physical therapy.

2. They suffer from a chronic pain condition and traditional physical therapy is just not an option.

For these patients, aquatic therapy can be a lifesaver. Many of our chronic pain clients come to us in desperation and hopelessness, and through our customized aquatic therapy plans they are able to function in daily life, do things they enjoy, and thrive!

Chronic pain conditions we commonly treat with aquatic therapy include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • fibromyalgia
  • arthritis
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • RSD/CRPS
  • cancer
  • peripheral nerve injuries
  • and more!

3. They simply need a change or compliment to their existing physical therapy regimen.

Aquatic therapy really is the perfect compliment to any traditional physical therapy program. You can vary the exercises – even add to them – without putting extra strain on the body. You can perform aquatic therapy with an injury or after surgery and not put any added stress on the body.
